A Force Sensor is a transducer that converts mechanical load into mV signal proportional to the applied force.The acting force causes deformation of the measuring element,the bonded strain gage deforms accordingly which will cause the resistance change of the wheatstone bridge,under constant power supply, the output signal between Sig+ and Sig- will change proportionally,thus the load/force can be measured by measuring the output signal from the transducer.
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output is normally within 1mV/V~3mV/V.
Power supply is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the load cell output signal is normally within 0-45mV(-45mV...+45mV for bidirectional load cell).
Example one: Flange Load Cell FFG-1kN with 2.0mV/V sensitivity powered by 3.3V DC,the output range is -6.6mV...+6.6mV(Tension and compression).
Example two: Tension Compression Load Cell FFG-2kN with 2.0mV/V sensitivity powered by 5V DC,the output range is -10mV...+10mV(Tension and compression).
A signal conditioner can be used with the load cell to deliver -5~5V, 0-10V or 4-20mA output.
Example: FFG-500N working with -5-5V amplifier,the Force-Voltage relationship will be 0-500N compression load VS 0-5V output, 0-500N tension load VS 0-(-5V) output,when you get 3V output,it means the current load is 300N compression force,when you get -2V output,it means the current load is 200N tension force,and so on.
